What is What if?
The "What if?" campaign was launched on December 24th, 2007 by the Reverend Kennedy Jacobs and Living Truth Ministries. This program was established to bring hope back to a blighted community through a series of rebuilding and renewal projects in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Biblical principles for this campaign are based out of the Book of Isaiah. In particular, the verse Isaiah 58:12
Those from among you Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
Midtown "The Main Walk" vision presented to the community
Many Years ago, the Black Business District of Martin Luther King Blvd (formerly known as Campbell Street) was a thriving district of Black entrepreneurs and professional who worked, served and lived in our community. Today, MLK has become one of the highest crime districts in the city of Daytona Beach. Blight has overtaken a once proud and successful community and economic downturns have taken it's toll on the residents. On Monday, July 12th, 2010 Apostle Kennedy Jacobs unveiled the "What if?" vision for the future for Midtown. Starting by reviving MLK with hotels, leather shops, a movie theater at the corner of MLK and International Speedway Blvd and more. Bringing entertainment, commerce, Green initiatives, and most importantly jobs to a long negelcted community. Located at the midway point of Daytona International Speedway and the "World's Most Famous Beach" Midtown district is prime for this revitalization project.
"The What If Campaign seeks to connect families, communities and local government in a relevant way while empowering individuals to realize their dreams and aspirations.
