What is What if?
The "What if?" campaign was launched on December 24th, 2007 by the Reverend Kennedy Jacobs and Living Truth Ministries. This program was established to bring hope back to a blighted community through a series of urban renewal projects in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Biblical principles for this campaign are based out of
the Book of Isaiah. In particular, the verse Isaiah 58:12
"And they that shall be of thee shall build the old
waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of
many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer
of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in."
One of the focal points for this campaign is Dr. Martin
Luther King Blvd. here in Daytona Beach, FL. Through the
efforts of the residents of this community, and business men
and women from here and across the nation, MLK Blvd will
once again become a thriving residential and business district
within the African-American community.
The stage has been set and many of the major contributors have
joined in. This Urban Developmet Project will not only restore buildings,
but also restore families and a dying community by achieving the
following goals:
*Provide life skills training (Faith, Self, Family and Community)
* Provide life resources (Resource Center)
*Offer hope
* Help resolve crime and unemployment issues in the community
* Offer education programs for both students and adults
The "What if?" Campaign and Living Truth Ministries seek to
provide a mechanism whereby interaction between the community
and public can occur, with the underlying objective of improving knowledge,
behavior and ultimately, quality of life. |
